Flickr says Hello
Flickr is reaching out. I was just reading about their new Hello, India group that allows users to post that one image that ecompases the idea of India. Wether you’re a native or a traveler, well I’ll let them explain:
“If you live in India or have been lucky enough to have traveled there, we’d love to see that one photo that you feel encompasses what India means to you. If you haven’t, don’t worry, please share a photo that’s your way of saying hello to the newest members of the Flickrverse.”
This is so wonderful. They are also having events in the country soon, dates below. Some of the images are just stunning.
Flickr is creating culture without borders based on a collective concept of place. I can only imagine that this will do good things for mutual understanding – humans connecting with humans. Such excellence.
So beyond the greatness of this idea, Flickr is having actual celebrations in these three places:
Delhi, April 16th
Bangalore, April 21st
Mumbai, April 23rd
Way to bring it home, a collection of strangers rummaging around eating cookies and building relationships. This is such a noble way to execute an idea – I LOVE the idea of Flickr peeps sitting around a conference table for weeks planning this out. It’s like a big huge present. And I bet they loved creating it.
Flickr, I’m with you buddy, I’m right there.
